Learn the Secret of Using Coupons Properly

Secret of Using Coupons

This is a crash course on how to cut the grocery bill. You can acquire actual quantities of the same coupon at certain websites and in the larger Sunday newspapers.

You can literally stock up on stuff you will use by using several same type coupons. Instead of getting a good deal on one or two of the same thing, for example you can get a dozen of the item for the same effort (time involved in acquiring the coupon, finding the sale and the commute involved).

The way to do this is acquire manufacturers coupons for stuff you normally use. Then you watch the grocery ads for a GOOD PRICE on the item(s). It can be a so so price if the store has double or triple coupons.

Do the math, what do you pay each time you just purchase the item normally. Please note that not all sales are created equally.

If you get the item for $2.50 everyday at store A, but store B is on sale for $2.79 then it is not a very good sale. You can possibly work with it if the coupons are ok, but you should look for the ultimate deal.

Settle with the $2.50 item at store A minus the 50 cent coupon if you have to. That way you still save 50 cents. Every little bit helps, but if the coupon won’t expire soon and you are not out of the product, it will often pay to wait.

WHAT YOU REALLY NEED TO DO is wait for the $2.50 item to be on sale for say $1.75 then apply a 50 cent coupon and get it for $1.25. (You save $1.25)

THE REAL BONUS is if the grocery store offers double coupons. Then your price becomes 75 cents for what you always pay $2.50 for. (You save $1.75) Buy ten and you save $17.50.

REMEMBER, if you don’t always use the product you are not really saving anything by getting a “deal”.

If you are getting another brand of the same type of item that you would have bought it may still be a good deal.

This should be the case as long the price is cheaper than what you would have bought originally, and you have reasonable confidence that the quality will meet your expectations.

Please remember not to buy ten of an item if you can’t use them before they go bad. You can share your bargains if you want, but your “profit” will be lower.
